Clinical Medical Image Viewer (MIV)
The PACSIntegrator Medical Image Viewer (MIV) is a web-based
clinical application that gives healthcare providers an intuitive
user interface to view image studies alongside the associated
radiology reports.
Health Care Provider feedback regarding use of the MIV has
factored greatly in the growth and enhancement of the application.
This feedback has directly influenced the progression of the
underlying design and available user functionality. The information
architecture and data flow design of the viewer is optimized for
intuitive usability while mitigating the imagery bandwidth impact
on local and wide area networks. MIV is patient-centric and
collates local and remote patient encounters, displaying both on
the same screen. Enhanced image viewing capabilities are provided
with the Advanced Viewer Control that gives users advanced image
manipulation tools and the benefits of higher lossless and lossy
compression technologies that are unsupported in simple web
browsers.
Features
The web-based MIV includes the following technical features:
- Hosted on Windows Server 2003
- Support HTTPS (SSL) communication
- Standard Viewer supports most major web browsers
- Advanced Viewer Control supports Internet Explorer version
6+
- Integrates with a PACSIntegrator to access local and remote
images
- Easy to use interface that can be mastered in minutes, almost
eliminating training cost and time
- Displays patient studies in reverse chronological order to
illustrate the patients complete imagery history with the most
important data seen first
- Side-by-side viewing up to 4 series from same or different
studies in a single MultiView
- Side-by-side viewing of radiology reports, enabling comparison
of reports with images or reports with reports from other
studies.
Advanced Medical Image Viewer
Standard Web browsers only support standard image formats (GIF
and JPG) which can be overly-large and of lower quality than is
normally required for viewing medical imagery. The Advanced Medical
Image Viewer (aMIV) can interpret and display DICOM enabling
enhanced viewing capabilities that are not possible in a standard
web application. Dynamically using compression algorithms to
balance speed with quality, the viewer control gives the best
possible performance while maintaining the integrity of the DICOM
file and format. aMIV supports running as a stand alone Microsoft
Windows application or as a control that is embedded into the user
web browser.
The Advanced Viewer Control also enables the following
functionality and features:
Reports
View radiology reports with the ability to copy, print, and
adjust text size.
Overlays
Text overlays contain patient, compression, slice, and
positional information.
Zoom/Pan
Zooming and panning of slices in the series.
DICOM Header
Quick view of all DICOM tags of the displayed slice.
Manipulation
Invert, Rotate, and Flip allows image orientation to be
corrected.
Slices
Paged slice display for intuitive scrolling through multi-slice
series.
Window/Level
Adjustable window/level controlled by mouse movement with
predefined CT presets easily selected.
Cinematic
Play, pause, loop, shuffle, previous and next cinematic
controls
Clipboard
Copy/Paste images directly from the viewer into other
applications like AHLTA, Word and PowerPoint.
