CPS possesses extensive experience working in the Medical
Imaging information technology domain, specializing in cross
enterprise data integration and interfacing with Picture Archiving
and Communication Systems (PACS). PACS are commonly commercial
products that consist of computers and networks dedicated to the
storage, retrieval, distribution and presentation of images. One
challenge presented by modern PACS technology is that vendors often
utilize proprietary formats for the storage of medical images.
These formats range from a variant of the commonly accepted format
for image storage Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine
(DICOM), to non-DICOM proprietary standards. As such, CPS developed
a solution that enables the seamless integration of medical image
data between disparate medical systems and networks, using Service
Oriented Architecture (SOA) concepts and technologies. The
resultant CPS PACS Integration Technology is flexible and supports
the integration of a wide variety of medical standards and
technologies in a secure and efficient manner. The extensible
architecture of CPS PACS Integration Technology readily integrates
existing PACS with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and
single-sign on providers. CPS also developed a Medical Image Viewer
(MIV), which offers a user friendly and intuitive web interface for
locating and viewing referential medical images. This advanced
viewer control provides powerful image manipulation tools to the
web interface.
CPS PACS Integration Technology is currently utilized to
integrate Department of Defense (DOD) and Department of Veterans
Affairs (VA) medical imaging systems. At the forefront of DOD and
VA image exchange, CPS is enabling the exchange of shared images
between six medical health facilities today with planned expansion
to reach 14 sites by the end of 2008. CPS technology was also
successfully used to image enable the US Air Force Integrated
Clinical Database (ICDB) EMR
